Tate Visit - Yayoi Kusama
I remember visiting the Tate Liverpool a while back and was fascinated by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama's sculpture 'The Passing Winter' (2005. I didn't get any first hand photos of the piece, but I was intrigued that she was able to capture a sense of infinity inside a small space. She is renowned for her use of polka dot which is essentially what you see when you peer in through the holes in the mirrored sides, but it wasn't the polka dots which caught my attention, it was the endless stream of my own reflection (not to be vain) but I really liked the idea of peeking in and seeing yourself as well as the basic shape of a box to contain complexity.
